What happens at a meeting?

Want to know more about what goes on at out monthly meetings? Here’s a behind the scenes look at what goes on.

We start out with a member discussion about what’s going on with our upcoming show, places where we’re showing our work, opportunities we’ve heard about, ideas for creative excercises, etc. Once we get business out of the way, we move on to the critique.

We’re a pretty laid-back group of people, but we’re serious about what we do. Guests and members alike are invited to share their work with the group.  Each artist stands in front of the group and speaks about the work— how it’s created, what it means, how the artist feels about it.  Then everyone in the group shares their thoughts. This can range from praise, suggestions for improvement, possible solutions to problems the artist might have, questions about framing and pricing, etc. Anything goes. The focus is on helping each artist grow.

Here’s Charlotte. She’s one of our newest members.

Lonnie Carter is a frequent guest at our meetings.

Chris is great at pushing us out of our comfort zones.

Holly (aka Julie) is one of the more modest members of our group.
