Artist's Statement
These pieces are acrylic on canvas and paper. I have been using this technique for the past couple years. It is what I like to call yellow page art. Though they are acrylic, they are easily mistaken for oil.The process that I use is like chance. They are subconscience marks that take shape while creating space.
My work is a diary. My family, the chaos and change that comes with it, are a major part of my life. In some cases I incorporate those events into the "body" and titles of my work.
Dedication drives me. I push myself to create on another level. Lately I think my work is being influenced by my monoprinting background. Monoprinting brings an element of chance. Those elements are predominant in my work. I take chance and put my own sense of control into it. I see my work as random chaotic windows of light. Some dark, some light, and some unknown. The unknown for me is the next painting, the next day — STRIVE!!!
